Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
In the glass the wine has colors of pale green and gold. Upfront aromas of fresh tarragon and dried grass greet you, followed by exotic notes of guava, lime, and ripe pineapple. Full-bodied and silky in texture, it is the perfect harmony of white peach and passion fruit flavors. The long and pleasingly dry, flinty finish is balanced with elegance and finesse, placing our Old Vine Sauvignon Blanc in a class of its own.
Vineyard Notes
This year our 46-year Old Vine Sauvignon Blanc had 40% lower yields, further enhancing the intensity of flavor and aromatics. We love the expressiveness of the Old Vine heritage clone. Grown on richer, loamier soils, the distinctive hint of earthiness shines through, as the exotic fruit aromas come alive. To preserve its vibrant fruit flavors, the 100% free-run juice was stainless-steel fermented at cool temperatures with a select yeast strain and 2-3 hours of skin contact time. Post fermentation, the wine spent 4 months in neutral French oak barrels with light lees contact, inviting a complex and layered mouth feel.
